August Bank Holiday Weekend
A few of our members recently travelled out to Onslow Park for the 2024 edition of the Shrewsbury Steam Rally. A fantastic event with a wide range of classics vehicles of all types, large craft tents and steam powered fair ground - Along with the obligatory beer tent!
We travelled out on Saturday morning (after loading up in the pouring rain) in Andy Cotton's Bedford MWD with our James ML / BSA M20 on the bike trailer and John Keeling following along with Dylan in the Ward La France Wrecker. Arriving at Lunch time, we unpacked, got the tents set up and then watched some of the arrivals as the military section is located on the main road into the show site.

The show features one the largest gathering of steam traction engines in the U.K and the night time fair ground with the showman's engines lit up is a very special site to see. The military section contained a wide selection of rare military types including several Scammel's, a Bren Gun Carrier, Daimler Dingo, Daimler Ferret, Bedford MW, Austin K9, AEC Matador, Fordson Wot 2 and a 1941 Packard Ambulance (complete with a small block Chevrolet V8 and an automatic gear box!).

Special thanks to Andy Cotton for allowing me to have my first taste of driving a Bedford MW - I'm even more keen to get our MW on the road now! Rob Brindley.
